Beyond Method is learning constructed using our own best practice created from our inception as a specialist university institute in 1983; fusing the expertise of Cranfield University with the interests of six major users of change management: British Aerospace, British Gas, British Petroleum, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless and Longman.
A significant amount of research and investment was made into Cranfield Information Technology Institute (shortened to CITI in 1988) to take change professionals beyond methodologies – and learn how to successfully implement change!
The course develops your practical capability to manage benefits as an ongoing discipline rather than a one-off activity. You will explore how to identify and structure benefits, assign ownership, and ensure accountability for their delivery across business and project teams.
You will also examine how to track, review, and adapt benefits throughout the lifecycle—recognising that value evolves as organisations change. This includes understanding the role of governance, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement in sustaining benefits over time, and ensuring corrective action is taken when outcomes drift from expectations.
In addition, the course focuses on embedding benefits realisation into organisational ways of working—so that value is not dependent on individual projects, but becomes a consistent and repeatable capability across the organisation.
