Change Communication
expertise
CITI have been running CofEe Clubs for almost 20 years and we have just hosted our 49th one on the topic of Change Communication. CofEe Club is a forum for executives and senior managers to share experiences and best practice in successfully managing change. Our first was in 2005 at our old and very memorable building Lovat Bank in Newport Pagnell, and we have been fortunate enough to have some great organisations host us since, many of which we continue to work with.
I was really pleased to bring our “Communities of Expertise” members together in Milton Keynes, where we are based, and host a regenerated and revamped CofEe Club that we can build for the future. These sessions serve to be mutually beneficial, purposeful, thought provoking, challenging and insightful so we can really work on guiding, supporting and evolving the change conversation, and incorporating new world matters such as sustainability, new technology, multigenerational complexity and new leadership approaches that are fit for the new, more complex world.
People who really know me understand that my approach tends to start from creating an environment of true inclusivity, embracing difference and creating psychologically safe spaces where people can be themselves, be heard and use their voice with mutual respect, equity, contextual fairness, respectful challenge alongside support. It is also important to be honest, transparent, and openly commercially savvy so that people understand the decisions you are making and why.
We are very happy to share with you the highlights of the day, our packed agenda meant we enjoyed hearing from our amazing panellists who were asked to share their experiences and tips on CITI’s Change Diamond® and making change “Wanted”, “Happen” and “Stick”.
I spoke about the CITI spiral curriculum, blended and flipped learning environments that provides a learner-centric approach, so they can decide on their learning preferences for a more personalised journey. The four stages are shown in the slides provided.

Our change journey
Inclusion is important and I mentioned to the audience that when designing anything … a change programme, new products, new buildings, transportation or events, we ought to be thinking about the 20% rather than the 80% as they will automatically be incorporated within the design for the 20%. This flowed into the introduction to our next speaker, an inspiring young entrepreneur Katie Callaghan who started her business “Cards for Bravery” at just 13 years old while being hospitalised for long periods of time. Her contact details are provided, please support her if you can and as we concluded, please ask people with lived experience, rather than assume.
After lunch, Dr Ashwin Mehta shared insights and education to a transfixed and mesmerised audience about Data Driven Decision Making, AI, machine learning and the revolutionary impact it will have on our workplaces. Questions regarding the environmental impact of Copilot and ChatGPT left some of us quite astounded so there is a lot of education and decision making required. The framework provided within the slides are shared so please contact Mehtadology for more information as I am sure you will find these conversations progressing about AI capability and skills development.
Our sustainability partners EBA Group (Jack and Inez) will also be supporting CITI with some research and education alongside Dr Ashwin Mehta, IoIC and others.
It’s important that together, we elevate these conversations and educate people on the realities of technology and the environment to enable organisations to make informed and conscious business decisions.
The workshops that then followed enabled people to bring together the learning of the day and discuss how best to make change wanted, happen and stick … begin with the benefits, include the right people (no matter how difficult or opposed they might be), help people understand the WiiFM (what’s in it for me?) and communicate … in whatever way you can.
The conclusion to the day was that people really felt they learned, shared, listened, discussed and were taking usable insights and connections back to their working environment. The reviews so far have been fantastic, and the conversations will continue as we build the community space further.

Attendee testimonials…
These events are great opportunities to learn from others who are also facing similar challenges and it is always reassuring to know that the issues and challenges that you have are not unique

Final notes
Finally, it just leaves me to say a huge thank you to those who attended, the venue, Abbey Hill Golf Centre, our photographer, Pete Castle, and contributors featured throughout this page for sharing their knowledge and content with everyone, and above all my wonderful team, who were all able to attend for the first time and it was great they could because it was held locally and they all work so well together.
Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the celebratory 50th CofEe Club on 12th March 2025 which coincides with CITI’s 40th anniversary… so watch this space as we finalise details. Thank you.
