CITI’s Beneficial Change Management masterclass helps organisations move beyond managing activities and focus on delivering sustainable outcomes. Taking you Beyond Method

Beyond Method is learning constructed using our own best practice created from our inception as a specialist university institute in 1983; fusing the expertise of Cranfield University with the interests of six major users of change management: British Aerospace, British Gas, British Petroleum, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless and Longman.

A significant amount of research and investment was made into Cranfield Information Technology Institute (shortened to CITI in 1988) to take change professionals beyond methodologies – and learn how to successfully implement change!

Course content

Many change initiatives focus heavily on implementation activities while overlooking the factors that determine whether change delivers value. Resistance, competing priorities, poor stakeholder engagement and a lack of sustained ownership often prevent organisations from achieving their intended outcomes.

This engaging masterclass explores the principles of successful change management through the lens of outcomes and benefits rather than process compliance. Participants learn how successful organisations create the conditions for change, build commitment amongst stakeholders, and ensure that new capabilities translate into measurable improvements. The course examines change from both an organisational and human perspective, helping participants understand not just how change happens, but why it succeeds or fails.

Participants explore the core components of beneficial change, including drivers for change, stakeholder engagement, change readiness, sponsorship, communication, behavioural change and benefits realisation. The course examines the relationship between strategy, change initiatives and organisational outcomes, helping learners understand how different elements of a change programme work together to create sustainable results.

Topics include identifying barriers to adoption, creating change momentum, managing stakeholder expectations, embedding new behaviours, measuring success, supporting benefits realisation and ensuring that change continues long after the programme team has disengaged. Practical exercises and real-life scenarios provide opportunities to apply learning directly to organisational challenges.
