APM Risk Management
Level one – the Single Subject Certificates in Project Risk Management (Risk SSC) are designed to build on the knowledge gained in the APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent knowledge-based foundation examinations in project management.
Two-day course – the APM Risk Management level one course is typically run over two days. A mock examination is conducted on day two, followed by the official APM examination.
Overview
The Single Subject Certificates in Project Risk Management (Risk SSC) are designed to build on the knowledge gained in the APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent knowledge based foundation examinations in project management.
The Level 1 Certificate is designed to determine an individual’s knowledge of project risk management, sufficient to allow an individual to contribute to the formal process of project risk management.
This course assumes that candidates taking the examinations already have the level of project risk management knowledge specified in the APM Project Management Qualification syllabus.
The purpose of the learning is to ensure candidates have sufficient knowledge and understanding to successfully complete the Risk level 1 multiple-choice examination.  The course covers the learning outcomes set out in the APM Book of Knowledge, and included in the APM Project Risk Management Single Subject Certificate syllabus. Â

The APM Body of Knowledge and APM Project Risk Analysis and Management (PRAM) Guide give APM Risk Management level one candidates a clear, shared language and a proven, end‑to‑end process (initiate, identify, assess, plan responses) for managing threats and opportunities. They outline roles and governance, embed good practice such as risk registers, qualitative and quantitative assessment, and contingency planning, and focus attention on the most material risks – helping teams produce more realistic plans and budgets, collaborate effectively, and prepare confidently for the APM Risk Management level one examination.
Syllabus
The syllabus defines the topics that a candidate taking the Project Risk Management Single Subject Certificate examinations is expected to be knowledgeable of (Level 1). The syllabus is largely derived from APM’s Project Risk Analysis and Management (PRAM) Guide 2nd edition. The following topics will be covered:

Each section is aligned to the APM Risk Management level one syllabus, with clear learning outcomes. Participants will be guided through the knowledge by an experienced tutor, and will have the ability to ask questions if clarity is needed.
Knoweldge will be tested at the end of the course within a mock examination, and if successful, participants will be able to schedule the official APM Risk Management level one online examination to become accredited.
