What are the course objectives?

To be successful, organisations must evolve and this means improving how they run their business on a daily basis (business as usual), and adapting to emerging demands and expectations.

Portfolio Management helps organisations make decisions about implementing the right changes to business as usual; those changes are typically delivered via projects and programmes.

What content is covered?

Management of Portfolios (MoP®) approaches the management of projects and programmes from a strategic viewpoint. It provides an overview of all change activities including what is in the portfolio, what it is costing, what risks are faced, what progress is being made, and what the impact is on business as usual and the organisations strategic objectives.

What will participants gain?

This four day combination course begins with the foundation level which provides all the knowledge and information you will need and then builds to cover the practitioner level. The Practitioner level focuses on the application of knowledge allowing you to become a registered practitioner of MoP®.

This learning opportunity is delivered through a combination of facilitator led discussion, scenario application, examples of techniques and practice papers. This method allows you to apply your own experience and understanding to accelerate your learning.

The Foundation exam is a 40 minute, multiple choice paper on day 3, while the Practitioner exam is a three hour, open book paper using objective testing on day 4.

What are the key topics?

Improved strategic contribution - more of the 'right' projects are undertaken.
Removal of redundant, duplicate and low or no value-adding projects and programmes.
More effective implementation of projects and programmes via management of constraints, risks and dependencies
More efficient utilisation of scarce resources
Improved accountability and corporate governance.
